Gwilym in Hurstbourne Tarrant

Created by Sally one year ago

I first met Gwilym in the church here when he was playing for a Service at which my husband was officiating. I loved his playing and asked if he would accompany the Benefice Choir I had started, at major services. He was loved by all of us. He played whenever he could, and brought joy to our church, with his personality and his musical skill, which was second to none. I was never nervous conducting on important occasions when he was at the organ, as he always knew what I wanted from the music.

He was also a like-minded cellist.  We could play duets together, and when I wanted a new instrument I was able to take two to show him and we had a wonderful time trying them out.

Even though we retired from the Church seven years ago and moved away, I still have such good memories of him.

What a loss to so many. Rest in peace, you amazing man.
